During early 90's it was called as 'online diaries', and as the years passed blogging turn into a massive form of communication. The word blog came up from the term web log in which a person can share their stories, opinions and other writings. It is a platform where a single writer or even a multi-writers can write something about a specific topic.

Why blogging is popular?

Blogging is simply putting your own thoughts into writings. But your passion in writing can turn into profit. Not only can a blog be used for marketing but also can be a regular stay at home job for you. Blogging is the most popular way of communicating and spreading news and information.

And if you are curious who are the famous bloggers in the world, i will name just few of them, Gary Vaynerchuk of GaryVaynerchuk.com, Rand Fishkin of SEOmoz.org and Pat Flynn of SmartPassiveIncome.com.

Why people love to blog?

People do blog with a purpose and goal. They have their own reasons why they love to blog. 

Some  of this reasons are;

• To help you to  become a better writer.
• To advertise or promote your business.
• To share your talent and creativeness.
• To share your opinion's or insights about political or current issues.
• To express yourself and make an impact to others.
• To earn extra money on the side.

Blog is somewhere.. everyone loves it!

Do you know that 2 million blog posts is written everyday and as of 2013 there were approximately 152 million blogs in the internet? Since then the number of blogs continued to grow. Too many right? But it's not yet too late to start a blog. You can make your own and be part of blogging community.

Your success will depends on you.

How to start a blog?

Take your computer with you now, get yourself a cup of coffee (you will need it while reading) and if you're ready, let us start the step by step guide.

1. Decide what topic do you want to blog about - Before setting up your new blog, you have to decide on what topic you are going to blog about.  When it comes to choosing your blog topic, be sure that it is something you are passionate about. If you  don't love it, you won't be able to consistently write great content to build more readers. You'll run out of new ideas quickly.

2.  Choose a blogging platform -  Let's say you have decided already of what topic your going to blog about. So the next thing you need to do is to choose a blogging platform where you can start a blog for free. Actually you can create a blog using free and paid methods. If you want to take blog seriously then I suggest you to purchase a web hosting service for your blog.

If you want to start a blog with zero investment, of course it's possible. There are many platforms nowadays where you can start your blog. There is Tumblr, Wix, Medium, Squarespace, Blogger  and more.. All this platforms are generally  pretty OK but I must say Wordpress is the most popular one with 82 million active users. This is one of the biggest blogging platform in the world with countless plug-ins and add-ons and hundreds of free themes. 

3. Create your first content - The 3rd step is pretty simple. Start writing. Easy right? But wait, it is not as simple as you think. Writing is easy but writing a great content is a bit hard. Readers crave for great content so make sure you are writing useful content and a unique one. Remember to write for them not for yourself . Be creative and do some research. 

Great content is the key to have a long-term successful blog.

4. Promote your blog - The next thing you should do is to tell others about your blog. Promote it through social media, Facebook, twitter, Instagram etc..Build your own audience. Make the most of your social media. Get more traffic.

5. Congratulations! Your all set. You are now a blogger. Keep updating your blog with excellent content.

How to make money from a blog?

Now, you want to make money out of your blog..

First, i want you to know that blogging is not a 'get rich quick' scheme. Never fall into this kind of trap. You must work hard for it. 

To earn some money from a blog is a big deal. If you want to be a professional blogger and you want to make it as a regular job then you should invest money from purchasing custom domain, web hosting service, design of your blog and even hiring someone to promote your blog. 

Nevertheless, without spending some money, you can still earn income from your blog. However, it will take  months or even years before you could have a consistent income. But don't worry, it will be worth the wait. 

You can start a blog within minutes but earning money on it will be needing most of your time, effort, planning and marketing as well.

But don't be discouraged...

There are still limited possibilities to earn money from your blog. Bloggers make money directly from their blogs and indirectly through related opportunities. 
 
⇨ Advertising - Companies may be interested to display ads in your blog, or they will provide you a free product to review or they will ask you to write post for their products. Advertising is easy to start, making it a popular income stream for bloggers.

⇨ Affiliate Marketing - As an affiliate Marketer you have to promote someone product to your readers. You will have a referral link from that product and once a visitor click through that link and make a purchase then you earn a commission. There are tons of affiliate programs out there where you can participate in.

⇨ Selling Physical Products - Some bloggers used their blog to sell physical products like books, personal products or manufactured products.

⇨ Freelance Jobs - Offering a service like administrative jobs to your readers is an excellent way to earn money from a blog. Blog can be your resume to attract more clients to get more projects.

Once you set up your blog already and has at least 20 blog posts with great content you may need to apply for Google Adsense account to show ads on your blog and get paid. However, you need to ensure that your blog is ready and eligible for Adsense approval.
